As a child, some where around 1980-83, I remember seeing 180 proof Way and Nephew. Then after coming to the states in '83, going back and forth to JA, it now said over proof. I can't find anything that had or shows the 180 proof, which was a label at the base of the neck.

That's wild! I've never seen anything like this. I can imagine there being a 151-proof or similar. I'll ask to ask a very knowledgeable person who worked for W&N back then. But if you find a photo, let me know!

I've looked all over the net trying to find that 180 proof label but no luck. Then in the late 80 early 90s the only way to get WR in the states, that I knew of, was when someone brought some back. Then when they were being sold here you could tell there was a difference in strength between those from home vs here.

Anyways appreciate the article, I learned a lot more. Thank you
