Wow!

I start to understand why high quality Caribian Rum (not the Bacardi stuff) is much cheaper in EU that in US, and why more brands seem to be available here in Europe.

Or are these problems comparable in Canada (Your home country) ore the European Union (my home)?

Is this the reason even an american Independent Distiller like Raising Glasses imports Caribian Rum from the European wholesaler and blender A&E Scheer, not from an American or Caribian one?

So there is a reason that the brands of rum distillers should have a better price for the same quality. But it is said that even distillers often don't hav that fance margins and are in risk to close odr have to close (looking at renegade).

IS it really that hard for the average distillery eg. from Caribic WISPRA?

The US market is hard for any brand that is not large. The three-tier system, and each state requiring an in-state distributor, creates a ridiculous situation for small to medium sized brands.

And when it comes to non-US producers, half of the US excise taxes they pay go to their competitors in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
