Very sad, I am a big admirer of Mark . A great shame that Renegade didn't work out. Hopefully he has more success with waterford.

Any more news on this? I just learned the Watford also isn't doing well.

Is the distillery still producing or have they shut down?

I assume that if CaneCo isn't operating, they don't have a ready supply of sugarcane to press. So my guess is no. But would love to be wrong!

I actually wrote about this rum in 2008, one my very first articles ever! At the time, it was still conceived and owned by Bruichladdich, had an initial release, but went away for a while. I’ve always believed in it, but it’s so niche and such small release. Sorry to hear the latest.

Wow! Great context. Thank you.

I remember in my “early days” thinking that a Renegade bottling, any of them, would make my life complete. 🙂

Bummer...while I never had the opportunity to try Renegade Rum (they did not distribute, to my knowledge, to the Florida Panhandle), I was in great admiration of what they were doing. Absolutely fascinating, to say the least. With that said....$40Mill US investment in a brand new distillery and supporting agriculture industry is...a lot...

I had my first and yet only sample of Renegade at Three Dots & A Dash in Chicago last December. Very impressed. And, I told everyone I knew about it. Definitely the most interesting rum I've had in the last year. Very interested in seeing where any of this goes.
