Completely missing the poibt that there is nothing stopping Angostura and all other companies disclosing more accurate and up to date information themselves of course

Excellent points here, Matt. You mentioned multiple rums by name that I have written off previously (based on my tasting, not based on sugar lists) that I should probably have another look at. I agree with other commenters -- the real solution here is label transparency. I’m sure you agree.

Yes, I agree that all brands disclosing their additives would be ideal. However, that clearly isn't happening.

In the meanwhile, people are using workarounds to try to get information that some brands don't reply. Totally understandable. I'd do the same thing myself.

However, if people choose to use this information, they should be aware of its potential pitfalls, and use that awareness to inform their choices.

Totally agree with the above comments. If a company isn't transparent it's wild west, as far as I'm concerned, about the customer's purchasing decisions. I'm not sure what effect it has on the wider buying patterns, but I'll always respect a producer more for being as clear and obvious as possible about what's inside the bottle.

Companies in the Rum industry should be transparent and disclose sugar content on the bottle label if they truly care for transparency in this specific topic. Until then, the internet will continue being the internet about sugar and rum
