Great article Matt, as usual and well researched.

Im terms of guessing - i would look for if the brands play to the strengths of the mothership.

-for where Diageo wants to make a difference, the low-priced segment Zacapa won't help them

Look like you’ve missed Santa Teresa’s acquisition by Bacardi

Bacardi + Santa Teresa couple will be similar to Havana + diplomatico

Best regards

I don't believe I missed it. All evidence I have is that the Vollmer family still owns the brand. Separately, Bacardi and Vollmer are in a joint venture for distribution outside of Venezuela.

Now we see a first firesale: Camparis has sold five brands for 30 Mio€, that it once bought for 180 - 192 Mio€:

- Its three agricole-brands Trois Rivieres, Maison La Maunchy & Duquesne (2019 bought for 60 Mio€)

- Tequila Brand Cabo Wabo (2007 - 2010 bouhgt for 80+11 Mio$)

- Cognac-Brand Bisquit & Dubouché, 2017 bought for 52,5 Mio€

180 Mio€ --> 30 Mio€ - Whow, what a loss of value!

Is Rhum Agricole as much burned by the sinking demand as bourbon or Scotch or even much more? What has happened there and who bought the Agricole-Brands?

Can we expect some firesales of the inventory now from the buyer?

Great read, I wonder if certain brands were developed and created with the long term strategy to be put up for eventual sale?
