Outside of locales where French is the local tongue, Réunion Island rum gets little fanfare from enthusiasts obsessed with the latest limited editions from Barbados, Jamaica, Guyana, Martinique, etc.
The "Wild Parrot" expression from Savanna stands high on the hill of my all-time favourite Rums. Looking forward to trying this new release from Holmes Cay!
Savanna's Lontan/Grand Arome is very different than the Le Galion grand arome. I don't usually say that I have favorites, but in the case, I far prefer the Savanna.
In terms of intensity, Rum Fire is a notch or two below the Grand Aromes - to my palate. However, the flavor makeup of all three seems very different, so I'm guessing there's a substantial difference in their volatile substance profiles. I'm part of panel on this topic at The Rum Show this July in London.
